Merbau

Merbau – Tropical wood with high density and striking coloration

Full of character, hard and unmistakable: Merbau is a dense tropical wood with a warm, reddish-brown color and distinct natural resistance. Its hardness and durability make it an interesting wood species for solid parquet flooring with a unique character.

Advantages of Merbau wood

• ✔ Natural durability of the heartwood: Class 1–2 according to EN 350
• ✔ High density, hardness & durability
• ✔ Coloration from golden brown to reddish dark brown
• ✔ Comparatively low swelling & shrinkage
• ✔ Well-suited for high-quality parquet and plank flooring

Striking grain & technical properties

Merbau is characterized by its distinctive grain and warm color, which can darken over time. With a high bulk density and hardness, the wood provides good conditions for resilient floor surfaces. At the same time, Merbau shows comparatively low shrinkage values, but as a natural material, it remains subject to movement depending on wood moisture and room climate.

Merbau for parquet and solid wood planks

In our Merbau collection, you will find solid flooring products such as parquet strips and solid wood planks. The dense and hard wood is suitable for residential and commercial areas where striking coloration, high durability, and a solid floor structure are required.

Surface & Maintenance

Depending on the product, Merbau is available untreated or oiled. Untreated surfaces can be treated after installation according to the intended use. Oiled surfaces accentuate the wood's grain and color effect. Maintenance tailored to the respective surface helps preserve its appearance and surface protection.
