Note:

The joint sealing strip should be inserted into the joint immediately after laying the deck boards. Take care not to stretch or pull the strip lengthwise while pressing it in. Otherwise, it may contract after some time and become too short.

Plan for about 10 mm of additional length per linear meter of joint. This extra length should protrude evenly at both ends. Like other materials exposed to temperature fluctuations, the joint sealing strip can change length. After approximately one year, no further significant changes in length are usually to be expected; the protruding ends can then be trimmed.

The spacing between the substructure joists should be a maximum of 400 mm. With larger spacing, increased deflection of the deck boards under load may cause the strip to be pushed out of the joint. Additionally, ensure there is sufficient ventilation underneath the patio flooring; this should be at least 8 cm.
